AIR-P Scholars Application

The Autism Intervention Research Network on Physical Health(AIR-P) will support an AIR-P Scholars Program beginning in 2021.

Example Application Criteria

Does the research have significant potential to address a gap in knowledge in autism/physical health?

Does the proposed research align with the goals of the AIR-P/ARRB?

Is the project likely to be accomplished in 12 months?

Are the study concept and design appropriate for a pilot/feasibility study?

Are the PI and other key personnel adequately trained and qualified to carry out the project? 

Is there an appropriate plan for supervision from the mentor?

Application Requirements

Applications must be submitted March X, 2021.

Description of the project, addressing the following (maximum 2000 words, not including biosketches, letters of support):

    • Project Title
    • An abstract
    • Research question and/or policy/practice issue and its importance;
    • Goals and objectives;
    • How the project addresses issues of priority areas;
    • Clear presentation of the design and methods; 
    • Deliverables, products; 
    • Realistic schedule/timeline for completion;
    • Pictures or other demonstrative visuals
    • Demonstrable interest or knowledge on subject;
    • Senior faculty supervision with a brief description of the mentorship environment and how the mentorship will support the project; and
    • If a collaborative project, list of all involved collaborators.

Biosketches for all collaborators involved in the research project.

Budget proposal detailing amount requested and itemized budget and justification for how the amount will be spent (note: hardware purchases of over $100 are not permitted). Awardees may request up to $1000 for labor/time (please detail). Please also identify sources (confirmed and proposed) of additional funding.

Letters of Support from stakeholders and community partners are encouraged, but not required.

Applications must be submitted online by March X, 2021 at 4:00 pm PST. Please contact airp@mednet.ucla.edu should you have any questions. The AIR-P National Coordinating Center, Steering Committee, and Autistic Researchers Review Board will evaluate all proposals.

Applicants will be notified of a decision by June X, 2021.
