About
Rachel is a Chancellor's Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney whose work focuses on understanding the challenges and strengths experienced by autistic people, with particular emphasis on autistic women, girls, and gender diverse individuals. Her research aims to break down stereotypes and address inequities faced by the autistic community.
After completing her PhD research on autistic traits and the impact of autistic passions and interests on wellbeing, Rachel worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism (Autism CRC) at the University of New South Wales. Her work includes leading the development of an autistic-led research agenda for autistic women, girls and gender diverse people.
Rachel maintains an international research presence, collaborating with colleagues in the UK, the Netherlands, and Indonesia. She combines her research with clinical practice, working part-time as a clinical psychologist while also teaching psychology and public health courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Through this dual role, she strives to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice, focusing on translating research findings into meaningful real-world benefits for the autistic community.
