Oluwatobi "Tobi" Abubakare is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Indiana University whose work focuses on racial and economic inequities affecting Black autistic individuals and their families. As an autistic researcher, they bring valuable lived experience to their examination of resource access disparities and support systems within these communities.

Through their research and advocacy work, Abubakare emphasizes the importance of increasing Black representation in autism research to ensure voices from minoritized backgrounds are incorporated into the field. They are actively involved with the Black Empowerment in Autism Network, which provides community and connection with other Black autism researchers.

Abubakare's work aims to develop strategies that strengthen collaboration, community support, and resources for Black autistic communities. Their research goals include promoting work focused on Black autistic communities while helping to increase representation of Black autism researchers in the field. As they pursue their doctoral studies, Abubakare remains committed to being an advocate who makes meaningful contributions to both the Black autistic and broader autistic communities.
